On some Adwaita-colors themes, file type icons are not displayed correctly. Instead, either a very blurry icon or a symbolic one gets used.

OS: Fedora Linux 41
GNOME version: 47.1
Adwaita-colors version: 2.4.1
Installation method: .rpm package

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Download the theme rpm package
  2. Install using the instructions in the README file
  3. Run the MoreWaita script sudo bash /path/to/MoreWaita.sh
  4. Reboot system
  5. Open a folder in Nautilus with files that have specific mimetype icons in either MoreWaita or standard Adwaita
  6. Within GNOME Tweaks change the icon theme to either Adwaita-blue, Adwaita-pink, Adwaita-orange, Adwaita-slate, Adwaita-purple, Adwaita-green, Adwaita-red or Adwaita-brown

Expected result:
The mimetype icons should be the ones from MoreWaita

Actual result:
Depending on the theme, the mimetype icons are either blurry or replaced by symbolic files

Picture of a file manager displaying the source files for a Rust based project. The .rs files are drawn as a symbolic icon for a file - a piece of white paper with the top left corner folded slightly

Picture of a file manager displaying the source files for a Rust based project. The .rs files are drawn as a blurry default Adwaita file mimetype icon - a piece of gray paper with a couple darker gray horizontal lines on it and the top left corner folded

Notably, Adwaita-teal and Adwaita-yellow do NOT display this behaviour

Installed 3rd party icon themes: MoreWaita, Adwaita-colors.
My /usr/share/icons folder can be found here

Gnome Tweaks settings:
Cursor: Adwaita (default)
Icons: Adwaita-blue
Legacy Applications: Adwaita (default)

I've noticed some mimetypes are seemingly unaffected. *.ps *.sh and *.cmb display just fine on the affected themes.

I just checked, a new symbolic folder was added to most of the themes since version 2.4.1, except in Adwaita-teal and Adwaita-yellow. This addition seems to be the cause of the symbolic icons issue you're having.

Also, a new Adwaita-blue theme was added since this version, and there is a 16x16 folder in it. I suppose this is the cause of the blurry icons.

Try renaming (or removing) all symbolic or 16x16 folders inside the Adwaita-colors theme folders and see if it works.

Hello,
Sorry for not addressing the issues—I've been busy with studies and other things. I hope someone can help resolve them, and I'll push everything to the repo as soon as I can.
