Ah ha, OK, have now read code ( nicely done BTW ) and scripts, so I think I'm happy I don't need the MT32 ROM's. Will plug and play :). |

Hi folk, I'm trying to put together a dedicated piano/organ focused soundfont synth, as opposed to an MT-32 simulator. But mt32-pi looks tantalisingly close to what I would like, if I can run it without plugging in an MT-32 Rom, which I don't have. However, at least in the manual configuration instructions, this appears to be a mandatory step. I've looked at the configuration file, and although I can see that I can make Fluidsynth the default, that's not quite the same as disabling Munt entirely. Can I actually avoid this, and just run Fluidsynth hooked up to MIDI inputs and a DAC ? Obviously I can do ( and have done ) this under Linux, but the latency advantages of an mt32-pi style setup are very attractive.
