The initial site designs from: https://projects.invisionapp.com/d/main/default/#/console/11013483/234021647/preview do not feature any photos on the landing page.

The design is clear and simple, however is it lacking the warmth or human touch of photos? What impact do they have? Should we include any?

Some case studies and their outcomes: https://vwo.com/blog/human-landing-page-increase-conversion-rate/
A nice write up from: http://blog.usabilla.com/effect-human-faces-web-design/

  • Give a page emotion, don't make it icy
  • Catch the users' attention
  • Visualise emotions using an image
  • Use images to direct people's focus, users are drawn to human interaction and so will follow the eyeline or gesture of an image if it's placed near text or a call to action
  • Use images to help users relate - make it user-centric so showing images of your existing clients, creates credibility to existing reviews, build trust
  • Avoid stock images, these do not create trust
  • 60% of consumers are more likely to consider or contact a business when an image shows up in local search results (from: http://www.jeffbullas.com/6-powerful-reasons-why-you-should-include-images-in-your-marketing-infographic/)

@markwilliamfirth - do you have any thoughts on the existing designs and the potential need/desire for more imagery or photos? or should this issue be closed?

I think this is one for @harrygfox

My personal opinion is that we should stick to iconography and flat design for now

We'll likely want the case study pages to include photos

We'll also be including video content in future, but this needs to be created first
