what is wrong? weird situation with preference

HI,
I have normal preference, boolean, it is set ON.

I used

$enableOn = (int) varset($plugPrefs['enableEditor'], 1);

var_dump($plugPrefs['enableEditor']);
var_dump(varset($plugPrefs['enableEditor'], 1)); 
var_dump($enableOn);

Result:

\e_footer.php:23:int 1
\e_footer.php:24:int 1
\e_footer.php:25:null

As you can see, preference is an integer, varset returns integer , but variable is NULL.

What is wrong with that code?

What you've written doesn't look possible. There's nothing that can be mutating $enableOn.

Do you have a more complete example demonstrating this behavior?

I know that is weird.

... imagine testing the original plugin, a new one, rewriting code...

It looks like mistypo somewhere... Then I found it... How could it continue without error... or warning, at least the editor should say something...

Yes, normally it would find mistype by underlining code, but because it is symbol $, it didn't find it.
