Welcome! This is documentation for Lexy's Labyrinth, both for players and level designers, because using the GitHub wiki is easier than bundling it all into the game itself. Think of this as CHIPS.HLP
.
This is an emulator for Chip's Challenge, a classic puzzle game for the Atari Lynx (though much better known by its early Windows port). It can load and play levels and level sets for Chip's Challenge 1 or Chip's Challenge 2, though work on the latter is still ongoing.
Lexy's Labyrinth is not approved of, endorsed by, assisted with, or in any way related to Chip's Challenge, its developer Chuck Somerville, its publisher Niffler, or its parasitic rightsholder Alpha Omega Productions.

How To Play — For those completely new to the series.
-
Tiles — A full list of all the objects you might encounter.
-
Aesthetic Differences — Levels sometimes contain hints that reference tiles or plot elements which are different in Lexy's Labyrinth. This should alleviate any confusion.
-
Compatibility — Gameplay differences between (and bugs in) various incarnations of Chip's Challenge, and how Lexy's Labyrinth attempts to handle them.
-
Extensions — New functionality that doesn't exist in canonical Chip's Challenge.
The editor is still quite rough, but you're welcome to give it a try and tell me how it's treating you.
