The Stack Monitoring index templates and template registry needs to be updated for the Stack 9 release similar to what was done between 7 and 8 in this commit.
As it stands, the following assets need to be updated:
the ILM policy for the Stack Monitoring indices is still named .monitoring-8-ilm-policy
the index templates for Stack Monitoring indices are still named .monitoring-<product>-8-mb
the documentation on how to set up monitoring indices for Metricbeat 8+
Steps to Reproduce
Create a new deployment in QA using the 9.0.0 snapshot
Enable Logs and Metrics in the Cloud UI
Go to Kibana > Stack Management > Index Management > Data streams, filter for .monitoring and witness that all Stack Monitoring data streams are for version 8
Go to Kibana > Stack Management > Index Management > Index templates, filter for .monitoring and witness that all Stack Monitoring index templates are for version 8
Go to Kibana > Stack Management > Index Lifecycle Policies > and witness that the Stack Monitoring ILM policy is for version 8
