Problem Description

The Stack Monitoring index templates and template registry needs to be updated for the Stack 9 release similar to what was done between 7 and 8 in this commit.

As it stands, the following assets need to be updated:

  • the ILM policy for the Stack Monitoring indices is still named .monitoring-8-ilm-policy
  • the index templates for Stack Monitoring indices are still named .monitoring-<product>-8-mb
  • the documentation on how to set up monitoring indices for Metricbeat 8+

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a new deployment in QA using the 9.0.0 snapshot
  2. Enable Logs and Metrics in the Cloud UI
  3. Go to Kibana > Stack Management > Index Management > Data streams, filter for .monitoring and witness that all Stack Monitoring data streams are for version 8
Image
  1. Go to Kibana > Stack Management > Index Management > Index templates, filter for .monitoring and witness that all Stack Monitoring index templates are for version 8
Image
  1. Go to Kibana > Stack Management > Index Lifecycle Policies > and witness that the Stack Monitoring ILM policy is for version 8
Image
  1. Go to the documentation on how to set up Stack Monitoring indices and witness that witness that version 8 is appearing in a few places
