I couldn't find a duplicate issue, but this seems like it might be a more general issue than just Lens.

Expected behavior: Failures during saving should keep me on the same page, without losing the changes.

Steps to reproduce bug:

  1. From a dashboard, click "Create visualization"
  2. Configure any visualization.
  3. Stop the Kibana server, for example by closing the process or by making a change in development
  4. Click "Save and return"
  5. Instead of warning that the save failed, your changes are lost permanently and you see this screen:

Same, this probably got resolved on dashboard side
