Describe the bug
Blank page shown on opening session from bottom of alert list

Build Details:

Version:8.5.0-BC1
Commit:0d8de4df69f8084a94cdd9638d7de510813cb5ce
Build:56595

Steps

  • Generate multiple alert with session data
  • Go to Alert table , switch to event render view
  • scroll down and click on session icon on alert entry on bottom of alert list
  • Observed that blank bottom area is shown on click on session icon and user need to scroll up to view the session details

@karanbirsingh-qasource we looked into this issue and it seems to happen intermittently. Need to investigate further, but it might be an issue related to recent EUI changes in the page layout components

@karanbirsingh-qasource I checked in the latest 8.6 and the blank page does not show up anymore. Could you confirm on your end?

Hi @MadameSheema

we have validated this issue on 8.6.0 BC2 and found the issue still occuring on Firefox ❌ and Fixed on Chrome ✔️ .

@constancecchen scrollbar auto-adjusts in Chrome and Safari but not Firefox. Could you take a look at the above?

It's not totally clear to me that this is an EUI issue vs. an implementation issue specific to your solution / page layout. Can you reproduce this in either EUI's docs or a bare bones CodeSandbox link?

Need to investigate further, but it might be an issue related to recent EUI changes in the page layout components

Just my 2c, but I would suspect EuiModal / EuiOverlay changes over EuiPageTemplate changes personally. We recently fixed EuiModal to not scroll jump on open: elastic/eui#6304

We've had some recent fixes around that, with the latest fix being in #145888 (landing in Kibana main shortly). Would it be possible to QA against main directly once that PR merges?

fwiw only see this issue on Firefox on OSX, everything seems to work as expected with most recent Firefox on Windows
