Visualize bg_count in significant terms agg #2018
Comments
This may be a dupe/usecase of #1536. The only tricky part is dividing by the foreground/background sizes respectively. I'm not sure if this can be accomplished with a scripted metric or not. |
FWIW this is the visualization that I use to illustrate significance : http://www.quora.com/Whats-the-best-way-to-display-significant-terms-aggregation-in-Kibana I've also experimented with shaded backgrounds to show where the different scoring heuristics place scoring emphasis on the various positions on this foreground-vs-background chart: https://twitter.com/elasticmark/status/513320986956292096 |
Any movement on this, can we now visualise bg_count with Kibana? |
if we design for #41587 then we should also consider this issue @MichaelMarcialis as they are conceptually similar (visualizing an underlying calculation that's unique to the agg) |
Closing this because it's not planned to be resolved in the foreseeable future. It will be tracked in our Icebox and will be re-opened if our priorities change. Feel free to re-open if you think it should be melted sooner. |
Visualizing significant terms in Kibana 4 currently isn't very useful - it gives you the number of foreground docs that have a given term, but doesn't give you any sense of how "uncommon" that is, other than the relative order of results.
It would be great if you could split the bars in a bar chart to show both doc_count and bg_count, divided by the number of hits and number of background docs, respectively.
