So before getting into any details of how we could advance this to a great plugin, what is your goal for this? What is it you are trying to achieve?
The reason I ask is 1) because I have seen people do a similar rollup-ish thing with the Templater plugin here 2) because I have personal interest but am not sure where it aligns with yours.

I'm not sure I have an "absolute" goal, but generally speaking I'm trying to achieve making it easier to give myself "workbench" files to work from when writing articles — files I don't feel bad deleting, re-arranging, re-wording, synthesizing, etc. I guess it's kind of similar to the concept of the Journey plugin? I started working on it before Templater became a thing, so I'll believe that it's redundant with what Templater can do, but Templater is a little over my head to interact with and I imagine I'm not alone.
In terms of extensibility, once I get through the things on my immediate goal list, here, I'll have to evaluate the state of the plugin ecosystem and see what things I want are still "unsolved problems." Ultimately I'd like to have a better way to export particular files in a concatenated way that strips out some of the metadata and link stuff, but I'm hoping the pandoc plugin gets there before I do :)
