What would you like to do?

I would like to be able to record voice messages for more than two minutes. Preferably in unlimited length.

Have you considered any alternatives?

Unfortunately there is currently no alternative. This affects the feature so much that I can't use it like that. Incidentally, this affects many who come from Whatsapp and Co.

@bmarty the original was defect this one is an enhancement, it would be good to understand where the 2 minute limitation came from 🤔

I think this is a product decision. @onurays may have some context, since this limitation is not in the Matrix spec (I think).

Can we increase this limitation from 2 min to 10 min. Is there any technical reason behind this product decision for 2 min.

Any news on this? I get regular questions about this and I would at least like to give an reason, why such a limit exists.

My use case is to record 1-hour long meetings, and then send them over to the custom speech-to-text transcribing bot.

@DmitrySandalov in the meantime, for such use case, you can record with another application, like audio recorder (f-droid, google play), the send the file.
