Steps to reproduce

  1. After rebuilding the encrypted search index (because I was suffering from Seshat DB error disables search on desktop element-web#14229)
  2. I try to search in an encrypted room
  3. And search never returns any results even for content that I see right there in the timeline

What happened?

Search isn't working. Files panel shows no files despite hundreds being shared in that room.

@SimonBrandner Not wanting to argue about your issue priorities, but:

"S-Minor -- Non-critical functionality or suitable workaround exists."
Am I missing a workaround here on how I can make search work again?

Would a restart of the application make files appear in the right panel?

I did restart element without any change in behaviour.

@Bubu Are you able to try version 1.8.2? I think there may have been file panel regressions in 1.7.34 that have since been fixed, though I don't recall any search-related regressions.

I can try if I can get that updated tomorrow.

I updated to 1.8.2 now and tried again. I now get file panel results as well as search results for the messages I sent since the index rebuilt yesterday but not for any history beyond that.
