(Broken off from #4324)

I heard from @pixlwave that this isn't possible until element-ios lowest supported ios is 13, which includes these components for the first time. (X-Blocked until then, possibly)

The alternative would be that this is conditionally enabled for those newer iOS versions, but that means extra workload preserving compatibility for two designs, which to me doesn't sound very feasible.

Proposal

Unify the whole message area into one "tapping area", aligning the behavior with the apple design language, and being context options like so:

This then includes the whole message area, including RR gutter, and displayname (with exception of avatar, see below). This simplifies the messaging experience, and makes it less a "hunt and peck" that it is with #4324.

Possibly the user avatar could then be giving options pertaining to the user itself; the "quick action" of mentioning a person is still preserved if you (after holding for a short moment) can immediately move your finger down to then release above the "mention" option, like so;

Thanks for the suggestion, @ShadowJonathan

We have implemented the long-press on iOS as you descibe and our designer @niquewoodhouse has raised an issue that we'll use for future improvements to this feature when we prioritise it again.

I'll be closing this issue.
