Steps to reproduce

  1. Be looking at the home screen
  2. From another account create a thread (or reply to a thread) in a shared room
  3. Note that no grey dot appears on the room (or space)
  4. Click on the room
  5. Note that the thread icon (top right) does not have a grey dot
  6. Click on the thread icon
  7. Note that the thread in question doesn't have a grey dot

Outcome

What did you expect?

Some notice of activity in a room.

What happened instead?

Replies to threads did not notify me

macOS

Application version

Element Nightly version: 2022102801 Olm version: 3.2.12

I also tried this in both an encrypted and unencrypted room with the same behavior.

Looking at this again, it seems unrelated to threads, I can just message in the room and get no grey dot.

This only happens when looking at the home screen.
