Incorrect Message count in the chatroom.

Gives incorrect number of messages count notification in one-to-one chatrooms and in chatgroup inside the application. The count of messages in notification is higher than the actual received messages inside the chaatroom . If the user has a read a message still it sometimes shows that as a unread message in the notification.Can somebody point me to the right direction or help me out if there is any way out. I am using synapse version :1.4.0 .Thank you for your attention !
