Loading error in gnuplot-mode

I am currently using the latest version.
When I open the xxx.gp file in Emacs (version 30.1), I got the following error:
run-hooks: Symbol’s function definition is void: gnuplot-context-sensitive-mode
As a result, syntax highlighting is not enabled.

Thanks for the report. I cannot reproduce this problem with the latest version gnuplot-0.8.1.0.20250529.225145 from NonGNU ELPA-devel on Emacs 31. How did you install the latest version? Which version is it precisely? Did you install from NonGNU ELPA (stable or devel) or from MELPA (stable or unstable) or did you try to install from source somehow? Can you provide a precise stack trace and check if the file gnuplot-context.el is installed and compiled?

Okay, you did not install the package properly such that autoloads are generated. Please install the package from ELPA/MELPA instead via M-x package-install. Nevertheless I pushed a change of the autoloading behavior of gnuplot-context-sensitive-mode. This should also fix your problem.

The error message disappeared after installing from the ELPA, but syntax highlighting is not enabled when opening a xxx.gp file.
Syntax highlighting works after M-x font-lock-mode.

Your version is probably outdated. I've fixed this issue a few days ago. (It was a regression on newer Emacs 30.)

I should add - you have to use the development/unstable version for now, since the fix has not been released.

Deleting the ELPA version, and I re-installed from git.
Now, working perfectly!

To be clear - what I meant is to use the version from NonGNU ELPA devel (or from MELPA unstable), not from git. When installing from git, much more care has to be taken (proper byte compilation, info file generation, autoload generation, ...), otherwise the package will not function properly.
