Decision needed

• Ubuntu 18 was requested by community, build check still requires Python 3.7 while default version with pip on Ubuntu is Python 3.6.9.
• Workaround:

Ubuntu 18 was requested by community, build check still requires Python 3.7 while default version with pip on Ubuntu is Python 3.6.9.

embuild 0.27.0 fixes this.
So it should be fixed with the next esp-idf-sys release.

Thank you @N3xed . I've tested it today with Ubuntu 18. It works very well.
While testing the correction I've discovered bug in ESP-IDF on Ubuntu 18 without python2. There is also a relatively simple workaround: espressif/esp-idf#8045

TLS updates

• Draft PR for adding mbedtls (still local)
  • Blocked on stricter trait bounds of the establish & accept methods in mbedtls, more info in Implement native-tls compatible APIs fortanix/rust-mbedtls#3
• At the moment using not using the mbedtls component of esp-idf, just the source provided with rust-mbedtls
  • To use custom source, the source must be available at the time of build
  • How to make sure esp-idf-sys builds before (and thus downloads esp-idf before) rust-mbedtls builds?
    • Make rust-mbedtls a dep of esp-idf-sys and export?
    • We can't really do that either, because rust-native-tls will be using rust-mbedtls not esp-idf-sys.

• Redesign of the HTTPD server

  • Now feature complete here and here
  • Once the HTTP Session facade is tested, I'll promote the new HTTPD server (& client) to "not" experimental, and deprecate the old HTTPD server one

• (With @N3xed) Converged PlatformIO and "native" esp-idf-sys builds in terms of used environment variable & behaviors

  • PlatformIO now also uses <crate-workspace-dir>/.embuild/platformio as install location by default
  • Working on Support for starting build in activated ESP-IDF environment esp-idf-sys#36 for both PlatformIO and native build

• Promoting "native" as the standard way to build esp-idf-sys

  • ETA: gut feeling - if not Dec, than early Jan 22
  • Blockers:
    • collect-aware GCC toolchain should be released for Windows. Native build on Windows does not work without it
    • A way to invoke "menuconfig" with "native" build - @N3xed working on it

• Progress on new "mega"-demo with Web UI (in Rust) & OTA:

  • Converting edge-frame from [material-yew]https://github.com/hamza1311/material-yew() which is unmaintained to Bulma
  • Converting edge-frame from Yew 0.18 to Yew 0.19, which does have function components

• OTA implementation & OTA-server-via-GitHub testing, Captive Portal testing (necessary for the "mega"-demo)
