For many years now, the cadvisor latest tag downloaded a release from 2020: google/cadvisor#3363
Now, the newest cadvisor release has the 'latest' tag again: https://gcr.io/cadvisor/cadvisor
There is no official announcement of a policy change in how they apply the 'latest' tag. Maybe observe it for a few months and see if they start using the latest tag consistently again, so you do not have to track cadvisor releases manually in eth-docker
