The profiling of a selected feature is an action offered by the plugin, yet in my many tries in different projects and different QGIS versions and after re-downloading the plugin I was still never able to make it work. The profiling of a selected layer works, and thus in order to profile a feature I am required to export it as a separate layer.
Would appreciate help with solving this.
Thanks

Just tested and it works perfectly for me. Please note you aren't supposed to use the native selection tool - the profile panel has it's own map tool instead. So, after switching to the "selected polyline" mode and selecting the desired layer in the layers panel, please ensure the correct map tool is active: the Profile Tool icon, and not the selection tool should be depressed. Then, lines selecting with this tool should be used by the plot.
However, are you aware QGIS has a native profile panel now? Much more advanced, you'll find it under menu View->Elevation Profile. It works differently and you may find the learning curve a bit steeper, but it's worth of :) In very short: you don't have much to configure in the panel, instead, you should set 3D properties of the layers and the panel shows them as they are configured on the layer/project level).
Thanks for this great plugin tool!
