Design ideas:

New Clojure Protocol/Java Interface for getting entity ID from an object (any existing standards/interfaces around this?)
New multimethod for getting identity from an entity
Clojure function tries Protocol/Interface, then multimethod, then falls through to metadata

EDN-time metadata assignment of entities needs to know about this change.
