Tested on Ubunutu, Debian, Pi-OS. Failed. aufs is a legacy fs, replaced with the (more widely supported) overlay fs.
I have downloaded your source and have been able to modify it to use overlay fs.
Happy to fork your repo but it is not so much a fix or enhancement, but rather a new branch.
Propose branch=overlayfs - happy to create?
