There are many issues about ipify:

  1. The open-source project behind the server is no longer actively maintained: https://github.com/rdegges/ipify-api
  2. The domain ipify.org is not signed by DNSSEC---which means it is more vulnerable to cache poisoning and other attacks.
  3. The server allows HTTPS clients to negotiate for older, deprecated SSL/TLS protocols (TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1).

Therefore perhaps this should be deprecated and we should stick to Cloudflare.
