Agenda: emultimedia Working Group - Audio (+ some camera trap (image) discussion)

What is your approach with photos/audio that are blank (contain no observation)?

• For audio files, files may be blank, may be a recording of noise, or the recording may be outside the taxonomic scope
• For camera traps, cameras may be triggered without capturing any species
  Maybe can hang on to whole set of raw data, as well as files specific to project scope
• Good idea to define storage scope before project and budget for it
• • Requesting Imaging Scratch space
• • • Document project context with Event record in EMu
• • Rough estimate = size of file x number of files

How/where to store files in Zero Crossing (.zc) format? What if we would like to make these files publicly available?

• May be able to store in Multimedia record as a supplementary file
• May make sense to zip all files together to store
• May want to hang on to audio data
• Would like files to be publicly available as well

What software are folks using for processing images and audio?

• • Species-filters can be shared b/t researchers
• Start analyses from full-spectrum audio (frequency + amplitude + analyzing harmonics)
• Other tools to consider: Arbimon - https://rfcx.org/
  but doesn’t work with zerocrossing files[?]
• FOLLOW-UP Qs:
• • want to know what software/tools Collections folks are using, too
• • what audio-measurements do people want/need to hang onto?
    (& how/do different tools limit/benefit that?)

How should we format the data so that it can be stored in EMu and also published?

• Example spreadsheet (Action)
• How do these data get published? Through an existing IPT resource, or will we need a new one?
• • TO DO: will follow up on this post-test-data (audio-file + analysis-output record-structure in EMu)
