Shiftit can't be started on OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) #136
Comments
Nice! Very quick feedback on Yosemite. Well, I'm not in any of apple's developer program so I don't have an access to the beta. However, I'm not (actually at this very moment) trying to improve the way ShiftIt checks about the accessibility enablement as there has been a lot of changes from 10.7 to 10.9. |
Great, sounds good. Yes, I have Xcode. |
Hi! I'm on the Yosemite beta right now and had the same issue you had. I was able to to fix it by going to System Preferences - Security & Privacy - Privacy, clicking on the Accessibility tab, and then un-checking and re-checking the ShiftIt row. |
It would be great if you could give it a spin. The code is the 1.6.1 release brach. The behavior should be hopefully intuitive. Ideally you first disable shiftit and then run the new version. A dialog should pop-up with a button that should guide you to the right place as @grahamcracker indicated above. |
I confirm what @grahamcracker say, if you uncheck and recheck the ShiftIt row in Privacy, it's working (I'm now re-downloading X11, but for now there is no build for 10.10. I'm trying the one for Mavericks, will give you an ETA), EDIT : It's working, just had to reinstall X11. This issue should be closed. |
@Erowlin - have you tried the latest code from the 1.6.1 branch? |
👍 un-checking and re-checking the box fixed it for me. |
Confirmed again, unchecking and rechecking the box for ShiftIt in the Security & Privacy settings fixed it for me. |
confirmed unchecking and checking also worked for me. |
Confirmed @grahamcracker - worked for me 👍 |
Did not work for me. :( Take that back. It worked, but only after I rebooted. |
The unchecking rechecking thing didn't work for me I just update my mac to Yosemite and found out that my Shiftit isn't working |
@shwetado if you have the possibility to make your own build - please check out the 1.6.1 branch - this should work the best |
👍 re-checking the checkbox worked :) |
how do i even install this on my mac, i downloaded the zip file but dont know what to do from there, please help. Thanks |
@Jaskarans1ngh - you should get the zip from the Releases. Then you simply unzip (double click in Finder) and drag and drop the resulting ShiftIt.app into you Application folder. Finally, open it by double clicking on it. |
uncheck, restart the system, and recheck worked for me |
I know the OS is still in Beta, but you can't start Shiftit because there is no way (that I can find) to enable it in the Accessibility System Preferences
