GMTED is down

GMTED moved to https and our service is no longer working. Our requests get a 500 internal error response code.

There seems to be an issue on the GMTED server. We've contacted their help desk, but there's been no resolution yet. The best option may be to host this ourselves. It's just over 2GB of data. I intermittently get this error in the browser:

The webpage at https://edcintl.cr.usgs.gov/downloads/sciweb1/shared/topo/downloads/GMTED/Grid_ZipFiles/mn15_grd.zip might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED

followed by

edcintl.cr.usgs.gov unexpectedly closed the connection.

Checking the proxy and the firewall
