Incessant crashes on Fedora 36 #280
Comments
I've had the person who I'm filing those issues for run the flatpak with ozonewayland, so far it seems to work. |
The issue does still seem to appear with OzoneWayland, so it's unrelated to that at the very least, should be easy to repro. |
I have the same issue on Fedora 36 running Sway:

Another person on Fedora 36 and sway having core dump issues:

i'm on the fedora 37 beta and am also experience frequent crashes |
I believe this issue is related to element-hq/element-desktop#691 - I am having the same issue on Fedora 37, with the Element flatpak im.riot.Riot v1.11.16, after logging into my newish account that I've used for a month straight. Disabling the encrypted search index in the settings stopped the crashes for me also. I had to rush to disable the option quickly before the client crashed. I don't believe it's an issue with the flatpak specifically, but was told to report this here. |
Same issue on Debian element-hq/element-desktop#691 |
Having this same issue on Arch.

Same issue on Ubuntu 22.04 (with dedicated AMD graphics processor using the Logs:

I've been getting the same for the past 10 days or so, started happening after i started a re-indexing of locally stored messages to be able to search encrypted messages, for what it's worth.
The flatpak is completely unusable for me currently, had to switch to the web client in Firefox. |
I'm not sure whether the bugs/crashes due to encrypted message search are being inadvertently mixed in with bugs/crashes due to Wayland ( for example, #335 (comment) is a crash due to Wayland, also on Fedora). See my comment here #339 (comment) about the encrypted search issue. |
Closing since current crashes are hopefully unrelated to this issue. |
Possibly a duplicate of element-hq/element-web#256 , that was already closed by the time I opened this issue.
Element's flatpak is unusable on Fedora 36 KDE (Wayland), Plasma 5.24.5, and keeps consistently crashing, as shown below:
