For the back end it may be advisible to maintain the database on a peer based structure to defend against the inevitable censure orders and redaction requests. If everyone owns it, no one can censure. encryption of user selected protected data could still be done so long as trusted members still have keys.

I think centralizing this project makes it an easy target to pass laws to make police a "protected class" on the internet where you can't store reports about them. In order to be subversive, I believe it needs to be "by the people" sort of thing.

Basically, imagine tomorrow someone made you stop everything on this. How could we make it so another would spring up and you would stop thereby following the order.
