I have been using "frekele/ant" image for many years, without a problem. Today I happen to notice the problem when running apt-get commands. For example:

  • apt-get -y update && apt-get install -y subversion

As a result, I got many "404 Not Found" errors:

...
Err:9 http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch/main amd64 Packages
  404  Not Found
Ign:10 http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch/main all Packages
Err:11 http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch-updates/main amd64 Packages

Ign:12 http://deb.debian.org/debian stretch-updates/main all Packages

Is there a problem with the latest docker image, or Debian distribution system?

I encountered this problem as well, an explanation for the cause is here https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/743839/apt-get-update-failed-to-fetch-debian-amd64-packages-while-building-dockerfile-f

Basically this image needs to be updated to use a newer base image.
