when a user looks at a small book, where we say the price is 2-3 dollars, it can be jarring to find out that they will be looking at 10-11 with shipping and handling. i've had one user tell me this by email, that he was surprised to find out it "actually cost $10.95", making it seem like we were hiding the true price.
we know that lulu will add at least a certain amount to every single book. we could bake this in to the price we display, and reduce the shock factor of checkout.
the major downside to this, that i can think of, is that it becomes misleading/incorrect when multiple copies are ordered. if someone wants 5 copies of "waiting on the lord", they will do the mental math and think it might be $50, when actually it will end up being more like $25.
