Since a day or two ago I can only watch about a minute of any video before it returns the error mentioned.
Reinstalling, logging out and in. Nothing I've tried fixes it.

Any tips for further troubleshooting would be appreciated

Noticing the same thing happening on other external YT player apps as well. On NewPipe, I can see it returns a 403 error. I just got this error on here after 31 seconds. This only started happening on both recently, so I'm guessing YouTube's changing stuff up to mess with us. Probably the new ad injections.

Rebooting the app temporarily fixes this, though it's quite annoying.

After some testing i found that this error only happens when I am looged in to the extension with my google account. when logging out I can watch without any problems.

It's definitely related to login, indeed.

For me it seems like the solution changes every few weeks. Some days I need to be logged in and check the boxes for using my credentials for watching the video. Other days I need to uncheck those boxes or log out.

I'm not logged in at all and it still happens...

I've noticed that sometimes if I immediately skip +10sec when opening a video (double tap right side of video window) it will continue to play without error.

A workaround that's been consistently working for me while this is happening is toggling authenticated playback in the plugin settings. When it happens, just change the state of it and it works again.

It's only dodging the issue but it might help those affected in the meantime.

i tried the same workaround, it works most of the time but occasionally i need to wait a few hours until it allows me to watch again.

It's been confirmed that YouTube has made some changes to mess with ad blockers here. NewPipe has already released a fix for 403 on start, but not 403 after 1 minute yet.

I've been having the same issue recently with youtube playback.

This is just speculation but I think this works due do A/B testing, and changing if you're logged in puts you in a different test group.

I have a similar error, but it prevents videos from loading entirely

I switched to Revanced and SmartTube. Fixed the problem faster than waiting here in silence.

Well the latest Grayjay updates (which have been out for a few days now) seem to be helping with this issue, at least for me

It seems fixed for me after the latest update. No issues to speak of what so ever.

Mine still does not work. Same exact problem. I am YouTube premium (family) too for what it's worth

Edit: tried Gray jay this morning, you tube plugin updated but Gray jay didn't, same problem. Then after I posted the above update I opened Gray jay again and it then updated, but I still can't watch you tube videos, at approx 1min in a toast shows: YouTube attempted blocking detected, attempt bypass 1.
It does that 4 times then just restarts the video.
So still not working for me.

Edit 2: it now works, I had to turn off the authenticated client options in the you tube plugin settings (x3). Not sure if I turned them on at some point or if that's default? Any who, seems to be fine now.

This seems to be fixed in latest version (264) of Grayjay. Feel free to open a new issue if you are still encountering this.
