I've noticed a discrepancy in the contributions count across many profiles, including my own. For instance, according to my profile stats, I have a total of 1,767 contributions (1,530 public) from June 4th, 2021 to the present. However, the most recent update on October 2nd, 2024, lists my contributions as only 1,189.
Even if we only consider public contributions, there's still a difference of 341, which doesn't add up. I'm unsure how this system is calculating contributions. If it's tracking total public contributions from the beginning of your GitHub activity, the number seems incorrect. On the other hand, if the count reflects public contributions since meeting specific criteria for entering their lists, this should be clearly stated in the documentation.
Does anyone have insights into why this discrepancy exists?
