GUI Plugins no longer display

Steps to reproduce

• Follow the GUI overlay tutorial (or just take any gui overlay plugin, I tried several)
• modify gui.ini
• run gazebo --verbose

There are no error messages, and I know the library is being found because if you type a non-existent library into gui.ini it complains. However, nothing is displayed.

also the GUI overlay tutorial cmake is broken but that's another matter (I will PR a fix for that)

Thanks for reporting it!

I think this might be a duplicate of #2133. Pull request #2631 should have fixed the issue, and was merged into the gazebo8 branch. It should be fixed on the next gazebo 8 release.

Feel free to reopen if this isn't the case.

good to hear. I'm using dev (9) now anyways so not a huge issue. Also, I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 just FYI, so it might not be a mac only issue
