It would be nice if in mapping page the names of the elements of the DwC and the extensions are being shown in the language selected.

I know that this requirement depends of a official publication of the standard in the TDWG page and the respective pages of the extensions, since the IPT get all those names directly from the publication of the standard. http://darwincore.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/terms/index.htm#Occurrence

nonetheless, I leave the requirement documented here just in case if this is accepted when the official translation of the standars are ready.

The IPT currently uses core terms and extensions that are defined in XML (see http://rs.gbif.org/core/ and http://rs.gbif.org/extension/ )

Several communities have made a lot of progress translating the DwC terms, and now there are practically finalized versions into Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese. GBIF has aggregated these translations into an RDF document available here: http://rs.gbif.org/terms/dwc/dwc_translations.rdf

The IPT doesn't understand RDF right now. To migrate the IPT from XML core files and extensions to RDF represents a major change, and is something that would be included in a 2.1 version.

The only feasible way to include this feature in a 2.0.4 version, would be to write
a hack for the mapping page to parse the above mentioned RDF file. If this is something you'd be interested in doing, please let me know. Thanks for the report.

We should like to know if is it possible to make some "unnoficial" translations for the DwC description and the extensions, an official translation can take a couple of years more and we think it should be nice to have at least the first page of the mapping section in spanish, just the general description like in the image.

We do not think that is neccesary translate the element's name, those should be keep in english.
We were thinking about doing it for 2.5 realase if possible.

Darwin Core and its vocabularies are now ready for translation at https://crowdin.com/project/darwin-core

Adding the vocabulary translations to the IPT will be straightforward (gbif/rs.gbif.org#122) though adding the core/extension translations is more involved (this issue + gbif/rs.gbif.org#123 + #1729).
