Hi there I would like to provide support as at Statistics Canada we have been maintaining our own internal GitLab for the past year supporting roughly 99% uptime all the while providing runners and gitlab pages and further integration with Kubernetes workloads.
We use the Cloud Native chart provided by GitLab and have automated cloud level backups leveraging Velero. (Can even do multi region restore and soon between cloud environments)
I really think this is the best way to run GitLab and definitely would like to see GCCode installed in a more modern and maintainable fashion and not just simply deployed on IaaS. Let me know if we can provide any assistance or show our custom extensions around the helm chart.
This is also important as the GCCollab suite runs on Kubernetes so their should be some standardization. We have talked about this at GoC Cloud Native meetups but happy you taking the lead on this.

Perhaps it would be useful for people to contribute how many people and servers are currently supporting local instances of source control? We could use this information to build a more robust business case.
@CalvinRodo@s-laugh Would you folks happen to know how many people/servers are supporting local instances at ESDC? Even a "strictly greater than" number could help a stronger business case.
@sylus If you have said information for StatsCan a Pull Request with that information would be awesome!
As for the more specific deats about how it's hosted ... I am not in the know. @jeffbarnes769, perhaps you could forward said questions/observations along?
