Probably the best bet with the current smirk to fix this would be to predict the pose using a more robust pose estimator (e.g. https://github.com/thohemp/6DRepNet) and if it is larger than an angle then probably smirk will fail.
To fix this, I would suggest retraining the pose encoder with a dataset which includes more extreme angles !
When a subject turns to profile view, SMIRK kind of freaks out. Is there something we can do "if profile, then something?"
