[BUG] Fix shading of carousel on smaller screens #189

Describe the bug
The carousel adds shading to its images to enhance the contrast for labels and controls. The labels are hidden on smaller screens. However, the shading disappears too, making controls less visible.

To reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to the optimization guide
  2. Resize the viewport to small
  3. Review the carousel in step 1

Expected behavior
The shading should be applied on all viewport sizes.
