Problem Statement

Having a replay with the issue is a great feature however when looking at it in my application I tend to have to always go to the full replay to understand how the error occurred and what happened after.

Solution Brainstorm

Be able to customises the amount of the issue has a replay for.

Hey @joshnice I'm glad you're finding replays useful!
I understand what you're saying about having to click through all the time so you can see more of the replay. The thing we've been trying to balance is to bring in all the context we can so it's a one-stop-shop for understanding and issue, but also to keep the complexity of that page down whenever we can. We've just gone through a redesign of it because the previous version of Issue Details had grown unorganized and hard for people to understand at a glance.

So those are our goals. One of the ways we get there is to not fully cannibalize the other big meaty pages like the Trace view and the Replay player. To be able to tweak the time range of the replay snippet we'd want to find a design that's not adding too much complexity to the page, the replay play/pause button and timeline can already be squeezed at some browser widths. I can take that to our design team to solve, but it's not going ot be high priority for them right now.

I will add that switching from Issues to Replay pages should be really fast if you're staying inside the same browser window/tab. We cache all the replay data that the issues page uses, so the replay page will load instantly.

Hey @ryan953, thank you for the reply and the explanation, really interesting to get some insight into the product! I had never realised this before but when clicking "See Full Replay" button the replay does load very quickly and takes me to the same timestamp as the issue (which is great and solves most of my issues).

Regards to the suggestion I made, I was thinking of like a project wide setting of replays for issues to be long, but I completely understand why it is not high priority!
