Summary

Hello,
When I boot into the live environment (without using nomodeset), everything works fine (I'm using the latest Solus ISO with GNOME). However, after installing Solus and rebooting, I only get a black screen. I can switch to a TTY, but I see the following error:

'nouveau 0000:02:00.0: DRM: base-0: timeout'

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Updating the entire system
  • Attempting to start GNOME manually with startx (it fails, and after exiting, the screen becomes off-centered and displays artifacts)
  • Switching to a different display manager
  • Booting with nouveau.nomodeset

I'm experiencing the same issue on Debian Testing, but I'm not sure where else to ask.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Have an old Nvidia GPU like mine (Geforce 9100)
  2. Install Solus (GNOME)

Expected result

GDM appears and I can log in.

Actual result

Just a black screen ; I can only go to a TTY.

Hello, I've just tried with fedora 41 and it doesn't work neither, even in the live environment.
