Summary

My mechanical keyboard (and just today, 12/7/24, my mouse also) are messing up while playing Warframe. This started happening recently, and persists outside the game until reboot. I have Corsair equipment.

eopkg lists my last update as 11/30/24. This date I updated, and then rolled back the update. I remember it solved the keyboard issue, and then I updated again and the keyboard issue returned. As far as I can tell it's only an issue when I play Warframe, which is through Steam and a Proton layer. I don't play too many games, so I can't say whether it's specifically Warframe or Proton.

The issues basically are a mix of repeat key or mouse button presses being entered without holding the key down or repeated presses, and the key or mouse button not registering.

As a note, I have tried setting my keyboard in BIOS mode and so far that hasn't solved the problem. Also, the keyboard has worked perfectly before the update. I have not tried changing Proton versions. Doing verify catche and reinstalling Warframe have not solved the issue.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start computer, Steam loads automatically
  2. Start Warframe
  3. Play mission
  4. Keyboard issues begin near end of mission or second mission, in this are
  5. Quit Warframe
  6. Keyboard/mouse issues persist

Expected result

I'd like the core keyboard and mouse functionality of my Corsair equipment to work as needed for proper gaming/typing/computing.

Actual result

Upon playing more than one mission, the keyboard and mouse do not correctly register key presses, either continually entering a key or not registering the key press at all.

I just started up Wolfenstein: The New Order and the keyboard issues started, so it looks like it's not game specific.

I tried some further things:

-Hand of Fate 2 is Linux native through Steam, and it had the same issues
-I downloaded Endless Sky through the Shannon repo, and it did not have any keyboard issues.

At this point I'm thinking it might be something with Steam specifically, but not Proton.
