🇮🇹 Grazie per aver aperto la segnalazione. Ti informo, però, che il progetto è in fase di chiusura. Vedi #196.

🇬🇧 Thank you for opening the issue. Please be advised, however, that the project will soon be closed due to Chrome V3 manifest and new policies. Please take a look here: #196.

You can still enable the extension even though Google has disabled it for not being up to date with its good practices.

Thank you for your reply.
I found that the web pages I opened on the same day can continue to use this function, but the web pages I opened from the record no longer have this function.
Here are the web history features I used and what it looks like when it is turned off:

I cannot see the imgur images, dunno why they are blocked by chrome by default even after disabling ad blockers.

On my side, I can load bookmarks that were saved after being suspended for example.
I don't know why it wouldn't work with the history.
I am a basic user of the extension, I don't think I can help you with something more specific like that.

My web page record function is called "Session Buddy 4.0.4"
When I open the frozen web pages, it will show
"noogafoofpebimajpfpamcfhoaifemoa was blocked"
I think I have no other options for now. Or if you have new extensions to recommend, that's fine too.
Anyway, thank you for replying.

I second that question. I saved many open tabs with the Session Budy. If they are saved while the Suspender is active they will look like "chrome-extension://noogafoofpebimajpfpamcfhoaifemoa/suspended.html#ttl=Benachrichtigungen%20-%20Tinkercad&pos=0&uri=https://www.tinkercad.com/"
So the URL is html-encoded but as Chrome blocks the extension even if it is kept , it cannot access these encoded urls.
The only solution I see now is to manually go though 50 tabs I have saved this way and manually decode the URLs again.
Is there a way to get this done better? Why did the extension just get shut off without a prior warning.

Why did the extension just get shut off without a prior warning.

Because the extension is not in charge of the situation, the extension is not in control of the game. It's Google that's deciding to turn it off at all because it's not compatible with Manifest v3, and now I can't even think about releasing an update to the extension that would allow offboarding (as you suggested, which is a good idea anyway), because they wouldn't allow me to load a version that's still based on Manifest v2.

That is not nice from Google to do this without a warning. I lost 3 extensions because of this.

So at least what is possible is to just take the last part of the URL which is not encoded and use it to get the tab back. It does not have the same effect as the extension, but at least the location can be opened again

but google has been giving warning to extension developers to migrate to v3 for a long time, haven't they?

You are so right! But that doesn't mean that all developers can keep up with Google's demands. I am not a JS developer, so my situation is different, but try to think that a developer might not have enough time, strength, or budget (to invest to pay someone who can do the work, which will then be released for free for everyone).

yeah fair enough. totally get this. my point is that at the very least on the readme, you could've put a call out for volunteers who'd want to do this for free months back. i think v3's been planned for maybe 1-2 yrs now? pretty sure someone good would've volunteered over a period of one year since many use this.
not trying to be rude to you but Google's not at fault here. any platform gets updates and products on that platform need to update, wrong to frame them as demands.

edit: still, Google could've handled this better i guess. lots of other extensions also no longer available.

@iam-Shashank: You're absolutely right, again! And I do want to mention that my requests for help with the Mv3 conversion are from 2022 (https://gioxx.org/2022/10/18/the-marvellous-suspender-a-look-into-the-future/#en-us).

That said, I have tried to rescue an extension from certain death, and immediately reached out for help to improve and move TMS forward. There was certainly a lack of organization done properly, but there was certainly no lack of commitment and requests for help (via GitHub and personal blog) 🫡

For those who have lost tabs but still have something like session buddy

greatsuspender#526

I am opening a 150 usd bounty for anyone who can successfully port this into manifest v3

Edit: never mind some has already migrated a version of the suspender to v3. - https://github.com/rkodey/the-great-er-discarder-er.
