Thanks for the bug report! Please do the following in a terminal:

ls /usr/share/help/C/com.github.gkarsay.parlatype/
There should be some files listed. Do you have them?

yelp help:com.github.gkarsay.parlatype
This should show you the help pages. Does it work? If it doesn't work, please rerun it this way and paste the output:
LANGUAGE=C yelp help:com.github.gkarsay.parlatype

Please paste also the output of this command:
apt-cache policy parlatype

By the way, the help is not translated to french yet. But you should see at least the english help pages.

yelp help:com.github.gkarsay.parlatype shows the help in a new window but in english, not in french.

So it is installed but doesn't show up. I found a bug report on Ubuntu that suggests that it might be MATE specific: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/yelp/+bug/1360756

Do you have the same problem for other applications?

Do you have a file named /usr/share/applications/yelp.desktop?

What is the output of this command?:
xdg-mime query default x-scheme-handler/help

If there is no ouput and you have the desktop file, please do this:
xdg-mime default /usr/share/applications/yelp.desktop x-scheme-handler/help

Log out, log in and check whether Parlatype launches help.

xdg-mime query default x-scheme-handler/help :
yelp.desktop

I executed the command xdg-mime default /usr/share/applications/yelp.desktop x-scheme-handler/help and rebooted and I've got always the error.

I'm using Linux Mint MATE 18.3 now. You should install it into VirtualBox and test, I think you could reproduce the error.

I downloaded a virtualbox image from osboxes.org for Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya, Mate version, 32 bit. After apt-get update && upgrade I installed Parlatype from git master and I can't reproduce this issue, help pages are shown.

I uninstalled Parlatype, installed it new from PPA version 1.5.4. Same picture here: I can't reproduce the issue. Finally I switched language to French. There is no difference, it's working as it should.

At the moment I have no idea why it's not working for you. I have no other recommendation than uninstalling and installing again.
