Nano Banana extension in Gemini CLI with Free Tier

Hi, I hope you're doing well. Has someone been able to get the Nano Banana extension in Gemini CLI to work using the Free Tier? I was able to install the extension (it shows active & up to date, but when I try /generate or /diagram it doesn't work. I've tried authenticating in different ways and using different keys generated with AI Studio. The error shows I met the quota. I understand it should work, under a limited quota, but haven't been able to get it to work for a single image. Any tips/tricks I might be missing? Thanks!

You have to link Nano banana's API to a billing account, otherwise your free quota will set default to 0.

To clarify, the billing account must not only be linked but also active. If the linked billing account is closed, image generation will also not work.
