I'm working on making the JavaScript @octokit SDK a native ES Module. As part of octokit/octokit-next.js#72, I want to turn this module into a native ES Module as well.

We can continue maintenance support for 2.x for as long as needed. But this is a very simple module that stood the test of time. So I'm not too worried.
