Setting altair's initial query

Has anyone been able to successfully set Altair's initial query?

I can change the initial query as long as it is a one liner. Any attempt to add additional lines like extra comments does break the Altair UI.

Fwiw, the problem seems to be new lines. If the graphql file has any line other than the first one it breaks the client javascript.
