Hi, I am hosting a conference in Grantsville MD in June 4-6 2015 and was wondering if any of your team could present. It is a mix crowd of activists, providers, patients and artists. -Regina Holliday Sent from my iPhone

Sorry my earlier response was rather low on details I hosted a Conference in 2012 that was crowd funded for the most part. It was called Partnership with Patients #Cinderblocks. It was quite a success and was written up here: http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/stories/2013/february/22/regina-holliday-patient-advocate.aspx I plan to have the next one in the town I now live. Grantsville, MD June 4-6, 2015. This location is about 1 1/2 hours from Pittsburgh and 2 1/2 hours from DC. We hope to draw 150 from MD, DC, PA, WV and a smattering of other states. The majority of attendees will be major voices in social media. So we hope to spread content far and wide. I was hoping you or a team member could speak about what you are doing. I think sustainable crowd funding is a must for so many in this field. We are still at a save the date stage but will let you know more as soon as the eventbrite is up. Thanks @ReginaHolliday! I've made a note in my calendar and would love to attend! It's not a far drive for me from Pittsburgh, and it'd be great for Gratipay to make connections with the health activist community. Keep me posted! :-) |

Looking into #Cinderblocks, @ReginaHolliday. This little cabin looks awesome! :D http://www.mbcabinsontheriver.com/id63.html My preferred way of experiencing and participating in an event like yours is with a booth or exhibit table. I do much better in collaborative, spontaneous, small-group discussions than up on stage pretending to be an expert! However, I looked over the ticket prices and I certainly can't afford the $3,000 level for a table in the exhibit hall. I know at PyCon (2,500-person conference I've been going to for a decade) they now have a "community sponsor" option where admission is free and exhibitors provide value to the event through their community-focused exhibit table. Is this something you would consider as a way for Gratipay to participate in #Cinderblocks? |
@ReginaHolliday Unfortunately Gratipay is going through a significant upheaval right now, and I'm not going to be able to make it to the #Cinderblocks conference. I hope it goes well! :-) |
This is a patient advocacy conference, June 4-6 in Western MD.
