In the description of Orbot in the f-droid app, it is written:

PRIVACY FOR APPS: Any installed app can use Tor via the Orbot VPN feature, or if it has a proxy feature, using the settings found here: https://goo.gl/2OA1y Use Orbot with Twitter, or try private web searching with DuckDuckGo: https://goo.gl/lgh1p

So strange to find not only one but two Google's links in a paragraph about privacy!...

Totally agree. It’s ridiculous.

I ask developers to switch to the privacy respecting service immediately.

Google is NOT anonymous. Google is NOT private. Google IS EVIL corporation.

@n8fr8 or @bitmold can you comment or change this terrible thing?

Google makes Android, so there is really only so much we can do to "switch".

That said, you are right in saying there is no need to have those goo.gl short links in the app description. When that was written, it was intended to be display within Google Play and not a free open app store like F-Droid, so it made some sense.

We will replace with direct links to the relevant content.

All new links to FAQs, how-tos, etc, for Orbot will be updated to point to FAQs and other tutorial information on the (relatively) new site: https://orbot.app/en/

Site content is all here if anyone wants to contribute:

OK. Thank you for your understanding!

Google makes Android, so there is really only so much we can do to "switch".

So what? We talk about Open Source Software, that doesn’t track you. And there is really many custom firmware.

In the case of the links leading to google evil corporation's SERVERS, the corporation is using malicious proprietary software on its servers, as well as stealing huge amounts of data that cannot be controlled.
