It is hard for me to express how excited I am about this. This is just going to be awesome. I didn't previous realize that you wanted to uniformly show all of the data sources at the same time, but it all makes so much more sense now. And the addition of sound and fog!! Brilliant.
Some comments:
I really want to see a deeper dive into how the location will be ascertained from the globe. Are you using a camera? If so, how do you map the visuals to location? Are you using marks on the globe to help with location? Are you using a mouse sensor to track rotation? etc... I don't know how you can choose a globe without this.
Without an assignment of people to tasks, you are asking for a bad experience. You need people to commit to specific functionality so that it is crystal clear who is doing what, thus if there is a failure, who is responsible. As it is, if two people don't do any work, then the rest will compensate, and it will uniformly be a bad experience for all.
Does the fog machine require dry ice, or something like it? How will you manage that?
Are you ready for purchases?

We're also excited! Thanks so much for providing all the guiding advice (I don't know if we would have nailed down a theme otherwise).
We probably should have detailed the section of location selection a little bit more. We have thought a little bit more about it, right now what we're planning is to have a potentiometer on each axis of the globe, which will allow it to measure all possible locations that people could change to.
As for the task assignment, sorry again for being unclear. We have assigned tasks, they're at the end of plan.md. Rick is component 1 (Location Determination), I am component 2 (Time Determination), Lily is component 3 (Computing I), Rachell is component 4 (Computing II), and Tuhina is component 5 (Pollution Visualization). We determined that the construction of the set would be better suited for all of us to work on together. Totally agree that without the assignment the project is much harder to actualize.
The fog machine can either use a fog solution or a combo of white vinegar and distilled water. We think the latter would be easier, if not a little smelly.
We're almost ready for purchases. We have a meeting together on Tuesday where we're trying to solidify that list. The current list is fairly fleshed out but we don't want to double down until we are positive.
Quick update, we've decided to wait to purchase things until after Thursday's peer review because we have multiple elements of the project that we want feedback on before going forward (see issue #8 to see these in-depth).
