This is a broader issue: how to make dialogs block keypresses?

One possibility: unselect everything once a dialog is opened, and possibly re-select afterward. This bypasses the problem, but doesn't solve it.

Ideally, they should process keystrokes before they bubble to the CropObjectViews/EdgeViews and the ListViews...

Possible solution: add to the higher-priority end of their parent widget children list?
