This is another step of progress towards #1021.
This pull request just adds
GlobalVertextoStores, but doesn't make use of that yet. I have a local branch that does, by usingGlobalVertexidentity (see this for more information), but that is triggering lots of test failures, and I haven't been able to fix all of them so far.
