The extension does not hide the AppMenu, it shows the window title instead of the application name.

This is the first time I hear this, I've used the extension on other systems and managed to hide it. The very option leads to this conclusion. And several other forum users have claimed to achieve the result I expect with this extension.

That was never a feature of this extension. Maybe you were using the gtk-shell-shows-app-menu setting that was available in gnome pre 3.32.

As you can see here, unite forced the appmenu to show if gtk-shell-shows-app-menu was set to false and show-window-title was enabled. This gave you the false impression that unite hides the appmenu.

If you want, open an new issue as feature-request to "Hide appmenu".
